Breeding the PBGV is very
serious business to me and first and foremost I would like to state
the fact that I am a fancier of the breed, but
with all my soul. And very selectively I do breed a litter Petits that
makes me “a breeder” .
To me breeding does
not mean that I will use every male or female or use them both endlessly
in my breeding
program. Not even every female will have to contribute, only if they
are healthy and correct enough and happy in being a mother.
Breeding
does mean to me: being very critically and, with a lot of patience,
building on the improvement of the breed. My own standards about
breeding are
very high and I promise you my utmost care to all and everything
concerning breeding, the best of care for my litters, the welfare of
my dogs as
well as guidance of puppy owners and future puppy owners.
Breeding
also means wanting to invest in the breed, for example, choosing,
raising a male that will also have the ability to contribute to the
breed’s
welfare.
On the other hand,
if one of the dogs I have been breeding would go to another kennel
and is able to make a contribution to the breed
that is one of the aspect I think should be mentioned under breeding
philosophy. You can read more about this in this website because
some of my dogs have gone to other kennels already.
All of my breeding
dogs
have had their health checks as indicated by the Dutch breed
club before breeding of course
My goal in breeding
is trying to breed a PBGV according
to its standard, meaning a small, compact, healthy dog, correct
in type of course, with harsh coats and friendly characters without
any aggression,
but courageous little dogs as they should be, and most of
all an anatomically correct PBGV with the right movement for the breed
so that he will be
able to do his job, hunting for small game like rabbits of
course ! Besides I love to try and breed a orange/white PBGV with
correct
black pigmentation
for nose, eyes and more needed....:
And this is not
an easy task
!
